Endometriosis Support

Root-cause functional medicine care — not just symptom management. Lia Laterza, LAc works with you to find what's actually driving your endometriosis support.

In-person & virtual consultations available

Endometriosis is a complex inflammatory and immune-mediated condition — not simply a hormonal problem. While surgery and hormonal suppression are the conventional tools, they do not address the underlying drivers: immune dysregulation, estrogen dominance, gut dysbiosis, chronic inflammation, and nervous system sensitization. At Muskego Acupuncture & Wellness, we take a functional medicine approach to endometriosis: reducing the inflammatory burden, supporting estrogen metabolism, addressing gut health, and building a protocol that improves your quality of life and supports fertility if that is your goal.

Who It's For

This may be right for you if…

  • You have been diagnosed with endometriosis through laparoscopy or imaging
  • You experience severe period pain, pelvic pain, or pain with intercourse
  • You have bloating, digestive symptoms, or fatigue alongside your endometriosis
  • You are trying to conceive and endometriosis is a factor
  • You have had surgery and want to reduce the likelihood of recurrence
  • You suspect estrogen dominance is driving your symptoms
  • You want a root-cause approach to managing your endometriosis — not just suppressing it

Our Approach

How We Support Endometriosis Support Through Functional Medicine

We combine modern lab-based diagnostics with Traditional Chinese Medicine and personalized protocols to address the root cause — not just the symptoms.

Endometriosis Inflammatory Panel

We assess estrogen metabolism markers, inflammatory cytokines, gut permeability, and immune markers — because endometriosis is driven by estrogen dominance, immune dysregulation, and chronic inflammation. Understanding the specific pattern guides the treatment approach.

Endometriosis TCM Protocol

TCM addresses endometriosis through the lens of Blood stasis and Cold in the uterus — patterns that correspond to the adhesions, inflammation, and pain characteristic of the condition. Specific point protocols and herbal formulas reduce pelvic inflammation, improve circulation, and address the pain cycle.

Estrogen Metabolism & Inflammation Protocol

We build a protocol targeting the specific drivers of your endometriosis — estrogen clearance through liver and gut support (DIM, calcium-d-glucarate, fiber), anti-inflammatory nutrition, gut healing to reduce immune activation, and pain management support through magnesium and omega-3s.

Conventional medicine vs functional medicine — Muskego Acupuncture

Why Conventional Medicine Falls Short

Conventional medicine isn't designed to find the root cause.

Do any of these sound familiar?

  • Your lab results are "normal", but you struggle daily with symptoms that affect your quality of life
  • You've seen multiple doctors and are no closer to getting answers or relief
  • Your physical and mental health keeps you from living life the way you want to
  • Your doctor has told you "you'll just have to live with it"
  • You're looking for an option besides prescription medications or invasive surgery
  • You're beginning to wonder if you'll ever feel like yourself again

You're not alone. Most care models focus on symptoms — not systems — and they often miss the full picture, relying on generalized protocols that don't work for everyone.

We Do Things Different Here

Most care treats the symptom. We find what's driving it.

Most practices choose one lens to look through. We use two — because your body doesn't separate its systems, and neither should your care.

Functional Medicine

We look beyond symptoms to find their root cause — testing hormones, gut health, and metabolic markers to understand what's really happening in your body. Instead of managing symptoms indefinitely, we build a personalized plan aimed at resolving the underlying imbalance.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

Thousands of years of clinical observation inform how we read the body's patterns — energy, circulation, and organ systems working together. Acupuncture, herbs, and lifestyle practices help restore balance and support your body's own healing response.

At Muskego Acupuncture & Wellness, we combine both — modern lab-based diagnostics with time-tested Eastern medicine — because using them together consistently produces more complete, more lasting results than either approach alone.

What You Can Expect

Reduced period pain and pelvic pain
Less bloating and digestive symptoms
Improved quality of life during your cycle

Common questions

Can functional medicine help if I have already had surgery?

Yes — and it is especially important post-surgery. Surgery removes existing lesions but does not address the underlying drivers. Without addressing estrogen dominance, immune dysregulation, and inflammation, endometriosis recurs in the majority of cases. Functional medicine addresses the root.

Does diet really affect endometriosis?

Significantly. Estrogen dominance is driven in part by gut dysbiosis that recirculates estrogen, and by dietary factors that impair estrogen metabolism. Anti-inflammatory nutrition and gut healing are among the most impactful interventions for endometriosis.

Can I get pregnant with endometriosis?

Many women with endometriosis do conceive — naturally and through IVF. Addressing the inflammatory and immune drivers of the condition improves the uterine environment and fertility outcomes. We work alongside your reproductive specialist if IVF is part of your plan.
