Muskego Acupuncture
Pain Relief, Injury Recovery & Athletic Performance
A clinical approach to treating pain, improving movement, and preventing injury by addressing how your body functions under load.
What is Sports Acupuncture?
Sports acupuncture is a clinical approach to acupuncture that focuses on musculoskeletal pain, injury recovery, movement quality, and injury prevention in active individuals. By targeting circulation, muscle function, and neuromuscular control, it addresses the root causes of pain — not just the symptoms.
While sports acupuncture focuses on active bodies and athletic performance, orthopedic acupuncture applies these same precision techniques to joint pain, chronic musculoskeletal conditions, and post-surgical recovery. Whether you're an athlete chasing peak performance or simply someone dealing with chronic pain, limited range of motion, or an old injury that won't fully heal, this approach is built to meet you where you are.
Circulation & Tissue Health
Supports blood flow, oxygen delivery, and tissue repair.
Muscle Tone & Flexibility
Reduces excessive tension and restores normal muscle function so your body can move the way it was designed to.
Neuromuscular Activation
Improves coordination, muscle recruitment, and movement efficiency to prevent injury and restore performance.
The Three Techniques of Sports Acupuncture
Sports acupuncture is defined by integration, not by one single technique. Each method plays a specific role in restoring movement, reducing pain, and improving performance.
What to expect
Your first session begins with a thorough movement and orthopedic assessment. Lia will test muscle strength, range of motion, and joint mechanics to map out what's compensating and what's underperforming. Needling is then applied with precision to release inhibited muscles, calm overactive tissue, and restore proper movement patterns. Sessions typically run 60–75 minutes and may include dry needling, cupping, or manual techniques alongside acupuncture.
Who it's for
- Athletes recovering from acute injuries (sprains, strains, tears)
- People with chronic joint pain, tendinopathy, or repetitive stress injuries
- Post-surgical rehabilitation
- Anyone whose pain keeps returning despite other treatments
- Desk workers with postural dysfunction and neck or back pain
Benefits
Common questions
How is this different from regular acupuncture?
Sports and orthopedic acupuncture integrates Western orthopedic assessment with traditional needling. Lia evaluates your movement patterns and muscle function before and during treatment, making it highly targeted for structural and athletic complaints.
How many sessions will I need?
Most acute injuries respond well within 4–6 sessions. Chronic conditions may require more. Lia will give you a realistic treatment plan after your first visit.
Is it painful?
Needle insertion is typically minimal. You may feel a brief ache or twitch response when a trigger point is released — this is normal and usually a sign the treatment is working.
